U.S. Missile Sales with Taiwan In Taiwan recently the U.S. has sold them over 6.7 billion dollars in missiles and military defense weapons. China was very upset about the sale because they are in a little standoff with Taiwan. Taiwan has declared them selves as an independent nation but China sees them as a colony. China has suspended their military and security contacts with U.S. and imposing sanctions on the U.S. firms involved in the sale.
I think the trade with Taiwan was kind of shaky. China needs to realize that Taiwan is an independent nation and not their colony. On the other hand we don’t need to go around flaunting our weapons and selling them to any country that has enough money to buy them. [1] Taiwan Justice Minister resigns over death penalty
The Taiwan Justice Minister resigns over death penalty. She said she would rather die in the place of the people in death row if it gave the chance to be rehabilitated. Many people disagreed with her because of the how the victims thought of what she said. Taiwan has practiced a 4 year de facto moratorium on the death penalty. The last two executions were in 2005.
I agree with the justice minister because death penalties are unjustified depending on the crime. I think a death penalty is a harsh punishment by most circumstances. In some cases the death penalty would be fair if the person was a mass murderer but that would be the only fair use for it. I would be completely against otherwise. [2] A 6.4 magnitude earthquake hit Taiwan on March 3rd 2010.There were no reports of any injury’s or death but many major buildings and bridges had been damaged. They are recently recovering from a typhoon that had killed hundreds of people in august, in the meantime it left more than 2 feet of water. The 6.4 magnitude earthquake was followed by a few minor after shocks.
I Think that they should have built the bridges alot more durable because they know that they were in a earthquake zone. If they don’t there going to keep on having to throw money away to fix these bridges and buildings. They were very lucky do have no deaths and no injuries.
